Augmentative Communication Evaluations Simplified:
Tools & Resources

Simplify your AAC evaluations using the ACES Module and “toolkit” approach.  This workshop discusses and demonstrates a variety of resources and ideas which assists participants to move easily, thoroughly, and efficiently through the AAC assessment process. 

In this workshop we will:
•  Explore communication needs using the SIMPLEST to most SOPHISTICATED
communication tools/devices (i.e. low-tech to high-tech)

•  Determine AAC DEVICE FEATURES to aid in decision-making and feature matching.  Includes information on new mobile technology (i.e. iPads, apps, etc.)(in     

•  Learn “HOW TO” use the low-cost and easy-to-use toolkit components
to do an effective evaluation (common ones which you may already have
or can easily acquire)

•  Provide support for ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES with 125+
forms/templates/ideas/ device flyers (provided on a CD)

•  Demonstrate PREMADE activities, pictures, objects, and overlays to
help you  get started

•  Evaluate the best ACCESS for communication tools (touch, switch,
eyegaze, etc.) using low-tech tools

•  Determine the best SYMBOLS to use (pictures, objects, alphabet,
etc.) using a systematized approach

•  Evaluate premade LANGUAGE APPLICATIONS from various manufacturers'
demos
